Mk Group Pic

Your Partner in Power

MK Battery’s premium gel sealed battery products have been the number one choice for years by the leading wheelchair manufacturers.

An MK Sealed VRLA Gel battery features an inherently safer, truly maintenance-free design. MK Gel batteries have provided years of proven performance and significantly longer life – averaging 1 to 2 years or longer when properly maintained.

MK Battery also offers a line of AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries for lighter duty mobility use. Although AGM batteries will not match the cycle-life performance of our Gel batteries, they do offer a lower initial cost and will supply sufficient functionality to meet the less critical needs of certain lighter duty mobility applications. For heavy daily use and traditional rehab applications, continued utilization of our heavy duty Gel batteries is highly recommended.

Technical Features:
Deep Cycle: Premium sealed batteries capable of up to 1000 cycles (50% DOD) as fully tested by independent laboratories.
Gelled/Suspended Electrolyte: No liquid of any kind; battery is completely sealed. Safe in any position (except upside down).
Maintenance Free: Water is never added; low liability
Travel & Ship easily: MK batteries are F.A.A, IATA, and UPS approved.
Safety: Sealed batteries have a special re-sealing vent system that prevents excessive internal pressure; thus they cannot explode under normal conditions.

Things to Consider When Purchasing Mobility Batteries

Things to Consider When Purchasing Mobility Batteries

  • Discharge:
Gel Cell is preferred for wheelchair and mobility scooter batteries because of its deep cycle life span. The AGM battery will work nearly as well if the discharge rate is not below 50% before it is recharged.
  • Range and Use:
A battery’s size determines its range. By size, we mean the Amp Hours the battery is rated for. A 30 AH battery has a range of approximately 10 miles, while a 98AH battery has an approximate range of 20 miles. Range depends on how and where you use your wheelchair or mobility chair and what features it has.

Mobility Battery Care & Maintenance

Mobility Battery Care & Maintenance

Even though AGM and Gel type batteries are considered maintenance-free, you may help extend your battery life by performing a quick visual inspection of the battery and related connections. If the battery run time seems to be diminishing, first check to ensure that the charger is operating correctly. Second, check the battery connections – loose terminal connections can add resistance to the charge input and result in low charge to the batteries. Third, check battery temperature during the charging process. If a battery is hot-to-the-touch, immediately disconnect charger and have batteries tested. And fourth, make sure that batteries are secured properly. Even though both AGM and Gel batteries are highly resistant to vibration and impact, battery life will be affected if they are not properly secured.
